Is Treezone safe?
Yes! Treezone uses the amazing 'Speedrunner' technology which means you will be continuously attached to the safety system and cannot fall more than a few inches. The Treezone team are trained to the highest standards and you will be fully briefed before you leave the ground. The TreeZone instructors are never far away should you need any help. The course is checked daily and TreeZone is regularly inspected and certified by the European Ropes Course Association. The biggest risk at TreeZone is that of getting the odd little bump and scrape as you swing through the trees like Tarzan!
What happens if I fall?
If you slip off an obstacle, our safety system will catch you. After a quick giggle you should be able to clamber back onto the course. If you are having a little more trouble, our instructors can come and give you a hand to continue round.
If for any reason you can't go on and want to return to the ground, our team will assist you. For your safety, it is impossible to leave the course without a Treezone instructor. Once you are released from the safety system and reach terra firma you cannot rejoin the course. We are unable to make refunds in this situation.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes – 7 years old
Is there a maximum age?
No. As long as you are fit and healthy enough to take up the challenge then you’re never too old to come and play. As it stands, our most senior TreeZoner was a young lady of 79..... so will you be breaking the record any time soon?!
Are there any height limits?
Yes, you must be at least 1.1m to take part and 1.3m to progress onto the bigger Buzzard course. If you are not tall enough for the Buzzard, you can have an extra lap on the TreeCreeper instead.
Is there a maximum weight?
Yes, you must weigh less than 120kg (18st 12lbs), and you must be able to fit into our harnesses which have a maximum waist measurement of 125cm (50inches) and maximum thigh circumference 75cm (29inches).
Do I have to go on the course with my kids?
Not if you don’t want to, the safety system will keep them safe the whole way round the course so you can leave them to it if swinging through the trees doesn’t take your fancy. We do ask that you stay onsite for the duration of the session if you have any under 12 year olds taking part.
How fit and strong do I need to be?
You will need to be fairly fit and healthy with a reasonable level of mobility. If you struggle on the TreeCreeper course, it may be a good idea to have a second lap of that instead of progressing onto the Buzzard which is longer, harder and higher.
What if I have a medical condition?
We are not able to give medical advice so we recommend checking with your doctor before you book.
I’m disabled, will I still be able to take part?
That depends a lot on the type and severity of your disability. We will always try our best to accommodate people and so far we have had an amazing variety of people who have successfully conquered the courses. What shall I wear?
Dress for a couple of hours in the great outdoors and be aware that the weather can change pretty quickly.
You will be wearing a harness and wobbling about above lots of spectators so skirts, kilts, dresses and swimwear are not appropriate.
Trainers or walking boots are the best bet for your feet. Sandals, flip-flops, high heels or barefoot are not suitable. We recommend tying long hair back and removing jewellery before arriving.
Can I take my camera?
Cameras can be taken with you as long as they are secure so you cannot drop them from the course. Other items should be stored safely in a zipped pocket, in one of our small free lockers in the cabin or left in the car or with a spectator. We do not accept responsibility for your belongings while you are here.
Do you open in all weather?
Treezone is year round fun and operates in nearly all weathers! High winds, thunderstorms or heavy snow in the trees may force us to close the course for safety reasons. Contact us before you leave home if the weather is looking a little too 'interesting'.
Can I watch?
Absolutely... there are several great vantage points around the course to watch friends and family. Please keep to the woodchip paths to help us protect the forest from erosion and to keep you safe from people flying down zip lines.
What will I see?
We are lucky to have Red Squirrels, Otters and Ospreys as neighbours. Keep your eye out and you may catch a glimpse of all kinds of nature while you're up there. Treezone gives unique, spectacular views of the Cairngorm Mountains and the Rothiemurchus Estate.
You'll also see a bunch of grinning loonies swinging through the trees...
When are you open?
Treezone is open all year round with the first session usually starting at 10.00am (11.30am on Sundays). The last challengers of the day start at 3.30pm for most of the year (earlier in the depths of winter and later at the height of summer). In the summer we open every day and in the winter months we're usually open Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays except during school holidays when we are open every day. We recommend booking a slot before setting out so you can be sure of an adventure when you get here.

How many laps do I get?
You start with one lap on the TreeCreeper, followed by one lap of the Buzzard if you are tall enough and feeling brave. Otherwise you can take a 2nd lap of the TreeCreeper instead.
How long will it take?
That is a little bit of a “How long is a piece of string” question! We find that most people take between 1 and 1.5 hours although this can vary considerably depending on how brave and strong you’re feeling on the day and also how busy it is.
Do I need to book?
It’s a very good idea to as we can’t guarantee a space for you unless you have a booking. If you turn up on the day and we have space then that’s fine too, but we’d hate for you to be disappointed if we were full.
